Updates for This Week
This coming week, we have only three instructional days before the November break. We are continuing with fall sittings for Diploma exams this week with Social 30-1/30-2 on Monday, Physics 30 on Tuesday in the morning, and Biology 30 in the afternoon. These exams are for those students who have completed the course but could not attend the June or summer school Diploma exams.
Remembrance Day Ceremony
This coming Wednesday, Western Canada High School will again, according to our long tradition, be hosting a ceremony to honour veterans and fallen armed service members, including the former staff and students who are commemorated on our cenotaph. A number of Delegates have been invited and we are very honoured to have Colonel Christopher Hunt at our school to do a presentation to students on Canada’s Military Contributions.
NOTICE OF SCHOOL COUNCIL ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The next Annual General Meeting of Western Canada High School (WCHS) School Council will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. MST in the library at the school.
Please join us to learn all about School Council's plans for the coming year; to vote for the Executive; and to approve the proposed budget.
All parents, guardians, staff, and students are welcome.
We hope to see you there!

BELCANFRAN
BELCANFRAN will have an information meeting for the parents and the students who are interested in knowing more about our exchange Belcanfran program on Nov. 26th, at Haysboro Community Centre, from 3:30pm-4:30 pm.
The program has had 26 students from France and Belgium who were hosted by our students for the last 11 weeks and who will return home on Saturday, Nov. 4th. They have had a wonderful experience in learning about our Canadian culture and learning English. This coming year, BELCANFRAN will offer a summer exchange program as well, depending on the number of interested students. The information can be found on their website www.belcanfran.com
Presentation From the Dean of Faculté St. Jean
We had two well-attended and very informative assemblies for French Immersion grade 11 and 12 students on Friday, November 3rd. Thank you, Dr. Jason Carey, Dean of the Campus St. Jean for personally making the trip down from Edmonton to present at our school. Campus St. Jean provides a continued French immersive experience at the University level. Along with superior residences, small class sizes, and full access to regular U of A courses, including an exclusive shuttle to the U of A campus.
Parents wishing to see some of that information can do so at the following website:
https://www.ualberta.ca/campus-saint-jean/index.html
Students wishing to contact Jason directly may do so at the following address: doyen@ualberta.ca
Thank you to Ms. Caitlin Gallichan-Lowe and the students from her drama classes for graciously giving up the theatre for these assemblies.
