Traffic Safety

Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.

Traffic Safety Reminders from The City of Calgary

The City wants to remind and encourage anyone who is driving children to school to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly. Parents and guardians are reminded not to park where it’s prohibited during drop off and pick up times, such as blocking crosswalks, laneways and private driveways.

Pick up and drop off times can get quite busy. Give yourself extra time to navigate safely around schools, whether you are walking, wheeling, or driving. For those who drive, help alleviate congestion by parking a block or two away and walking in, wherever possible.

Talk to your kids about safe travel practices like using crosswalks with patrols, looking all ways before crossing the street and not jaywalking across the roadways as a shortcut.

Student Parking (Grades 11 & 12 Students Only)

Student parking passes will be available for Grade 11 and 12 students at a cost of $50.00 for the 2026-2027 school year, with 85% of the parking passes reserved for Grade 12 students and 15% for Grade 11 students.  The passes will be given on a lottery basis.  Students wishing to enter the parking pass lottery must have a valid driver’s license (not a learner’s), have NO outstanding school fees from previous years, and must complete a Google Form by Friday, Sept 4th, 2026.  The Google Form can be accessed by a QR code that will be available outside of the main office starting on August 31st, 2026.

The student parking lot is accessed at the southeast corner of the school, located directly behind the main gymnasium. All other parking lots are reserved for staff.

  • Students’ cars parked in staff spots or fire lanes can be ticketed and towed away without warning. This information is included on the student parking pass form.
  • Students who drive in a reckless manner will have their parking privileges revoked with no refund.  Students are requested not to congregate in vehicles or in the parking lot during class times.  Students with attendance issues may also have their parking privileges revoked.
  • Students must ensure that their current year parking tags are visible at all times when using the student parking lot to prevent tickets/towing. If they forget their parking tag, students will not be permitted to park in the lot, and the main office will not issue a day pass or note.
  • If a student loses their parking tag, they will be charged a $20 administrative fee for a new one.  Student parking tags are NOT transferable to anyone else.
  • Please be aware that a student parking tag does not guarantee a parking spot. Student parking spots are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parking Violations

Student vehicles parked in any of the following locations during the school day (7 am – 3:40 pm) may be ticketed and towed from the school property at the expense of the student or parent.

  • Any stalls marked ‘reserved’ for school and CBE staff
  • Any of the gated parking lots around the school
  • Any handicap stalls (without a valid handicap sticker)
  • Any marked fire lanes
