Indigenous Students Association 

We are excited to introduce the Indigenous Students Association at Western. The association is a student-led group that provides a supportive and inclusive space for Indigenous students and allies, while also promoting awareness and understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and perspectives within the school community.  We meet every Thursday at lunch in room 310.   

 

Last Chance – Winter Coat

March 20th, 2025 is the last day for winter coat distribution!  If you are experiencing financial barriers to getting a coat, scarf, toque or mitts, please connect with Ms. Meier.

Congrats to the eSports Team 

Congratulations to the WCHS eSports team for their excellent performance at the Alberta Scholastic Esports League Super Smash Brothers Tournament.  Jonathan K. Salah H. Derek D. and Ferguson D. all placed in the top 5 with Jonathan K. winning the overall competition and bringing home a banner!

Diploma exams in April 

There will be a mandatory information meeting for all Western students who have registered to write a diploma exam in April at Western or Ernest Manning.  The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 19th after school at 3:25 pm in the conference room.  If you CANNOT attend, you need to set up an appointment with Mr. Wiebe before then. 

 YEARBOOK

Don’t forget to purchase a copy of the 2024-2025 Yearbook! Limited copies available, so purchase your copy today to avoid disappointment!  

Attention Grade 12 Students! To have your grad photo included in the school yearbook, you must have them taken by Lifetouch no later than March 31. Any photos received by the Yearbook team after this date will not meet the publication deadline. 

GRADUATION BANQUET & DANCE! 

Ticket sales start on 14 April – start planning tables and table groupings. Use the form on the Grad website to help organize!   

EXTRA TICKETS? Eligible grads with no outstanding school fees can buy up to 5 tickets. However, if you need more – please complete the extra ticket request form before 10 April – one form entry per student please! 

National Biology Competition 

National Biology Competition after school on April 18th .  Biology 30 is recommended but it is open to everyone – sign up is due April 7th here

Summer / Fall Dual Credit & Exploratory Programs 

Are you interested in Dual Credit for the summer? How about the Fall? This is your chance to earn both CBE and post-secondary credits.  To see opportunities and download an application package, go to the Unique Pathways webpage!  

For more information, sign up and attend one of the sessions below.  

Applications are due Thursday, April 10.  Information sessions are:

Online Safety Courses 

Students considering enrolling in Work Experience or RAP for the summer or fall should complete HCS3000 online prior to June. See Mr. Smith in the Tech Centre (R83) for instructions – or view PDF instructions found on school website.  

There are 4 30-level credits available through online learning.
