For the first time ever, Namibia’s internationally renowned Collective Singers bring their powerful, passionate music to Calgary.
Collective Singers
Thursday, April 16, 7:00 p.m.
McDougall United Church
(8516 Athabasca St. SE).
“You do NOT want to miss this concert,” says Scott Leithead, artistic director of Korora Choir Association. “Collective Singers are amazing. They’ve thrilled audiences everywhere they’ve travelled, from southern Africa to Europe, and beyond. We couldn’t be more excited to bring them here.”
Korora is hosting the choir’s tour of Alberta and British Columbia as part of the Edmonton organization’s 30th anniversary season. Since its inception, Korora has nurtured special relationships with choirs in southern Africa through numerous tours and visits from other choirs from Namibia and South Africa. The resulting musical bonds have seeped into Korora’s artistic and spiritual DNA.
The April 16 concert also features Western Canada High School Choir, Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School Choir, Sonica Treble Choir, along with massed choir pieces that will raise the roof at McDougall. Audience members can expect a breathtaking, unforgettable evening of musical artistry, movement, and collaboration.
Tickets are $25 and are available from Showpass.
