We care about our students and their well-being, and recognize that the upcoming strike will disrupt routines and natural support networks. We urge our students and families to prioritize mental health and well-being during this time.

To take care of yourselves and each other:

  • Stay Connected: Reach out to friends and family to connect in person, or chat via text messaging, phone calls, FaceTime, or social media.
  • Maintain a Routine: Try your best to keep regular sleeping and eating times.
  • Limit Screen Time: Set a daily limit for how much time is spent on phones/computers/video games. Try putting your phone in a different room away from you for an hour or two each day.
  • Spend Time Outside: Spending time outside can improve mood, reduce stress, and support better sleep.
  • Practice Self-Care: Take time each day for activities you enjoy, such as reading, exercising, or listening to music.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up with official updates so you know what to expect, but try to limit exposure to stressful or confusing news.
  • Ask for Support: Reach out to a trusted adult if you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or alone.
    • If you don’t feel comfortable reaching out to an adult you know personally, connect with the Kids Help Phone (call 18006686868, or text CONNECT to 686868)
    • Walk-in mental health support is also available to students under 18 years of age at The Summit. A list of additional mental health resources available in Calgary can be found here.

Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids lunches will continue to be provided at centralized locations throughout the city to support students who typically receive lunch from school - please check out their website for pick up locations. We look forward to welcoming you back into our building and community in the near future. Take care.
